Part 3A: All three of the people that I chose are very similar. They all were living through the harsh days of the Great Depression. However, they all seemed to have different mind sets/ goals, and personalities. For example, Chris Thorsten was an Iron worker who seemed like a very nice guy, but he was upset that he had to stop working for four years due to a severe accident involving a crane. Another example is Anna Novak. She was a Packing House Worker who seemed very stubborn, because she hated her job terribly. Jim Cole, who was an African- American, was a butcher for over twenty years. He was a man who had set a goal for himself, but it got denied due to the people making a racist decision, because he was a negro. Alice Caudle was a white woman who worked as a Mill Worker. She wanted to have the experience to be able to learn how to use the new spool machine. However, she didn't get to do that, because she was a woman. Finally, Mrs. Mayme Reese was an African- American woman who was a house wife. I feel like she had the hardest time out of all these people, because she didn't make any money from being a house wife, and she had to raise four children. All of these people have an important topic in common. It's that they all represented the time of the Great Depression, because they all lived through those hard times, with terrible debts and taxes, and huge discrimination issues.
Part 3B: Ed Callaway and his Collie, Spud, are both working as terrapin hunters. He is a white male, and there was no date of birth shown in this passage. He was interviewed in Fairhope, Alabama with is located in Baldwin County. It was taken on January 4, 1939 by Lawrence F. Evans. Another person interviewed was Sallie Smith Bell. She was a radio star who performed in plays and soap operas. When she was interviewed, she was 94 years old in the year of 2004. This interview was taken place on May 15, 2004 in the state of Chicago by Patricia Trebe.
